Aircraft airworthiness must be considered as a coherent process running from the design of the aircraft to the monitoring of its technical condition in service. The Master in Aviation Safety - Aircraft Airworthiness covers both the technical aspects of certification and the legal and economic implications.

This course has been designed to give future managers a broad understanding of the issues and priorities which have an international dimension. Air transport deregulation and the development of a global economy necessarily imply an increase in vigilance on behalf of both the regulatory authorities and the industry. Progresses regarding safety have been regular and have to be constantly improved.

The Master in Aircraft Airworthiness will provide future operators with the key to success in times to come. The Master, offered by ENAC and ENSICA, takes advantage of the excellent relations of both Universities with leading companies in the aeronautical engineering sector both in Europe and world-wide.

This Master prepares students to a various job either in aircraft manufacturers, or in civil Aviation authorities and Airlines: airworthiness inspectors, certification managers, Airworthiness follow up, etc.

This 12-month course is split into two semesters :

    - 1st semester focuses on fundamentals knowledge in aeronautical design and then goes to specific techniques: certification, regulations, human factors, maintenance procedures.
    - The 2nd semester is dedicated to the internship to be performed in a company or state organisation and concluded by a master thesis.

1st part Theory (October to March)

Aeronautical techniques and study of the aircraft (8 modules of 1 week each at ENSICA)

    1 The flight envelope,
    2 Structural operating limitations,
3 Aeroplane architecture and stress calculation
    4 Propulsion,
    5-6 Avionics 1 and 2,
    7 Aircraft systems,
8 Qualification tests for civil aviation on board equipment
    and systems.

Air Transport safety (8 modules of 1 to 2 weeks each at Enac)

1 Certification in international air transport,
    2 Safety of complex systems,
    3 On-board software,
4 Air transport safety and human factors,
    5 Quality approval and concept,
    6 Operational procedures,
    7 Maintenance procedures,
    8 Continuing airworthiness.

    2nd part
    Company internship (ApriI to September)

6-month practical training in a professional environment, either in France or abroad. It is supervised by a tutor from the host organisation and by an ENSICA or ENAC course
director. The student is required to produce a thesis, which he/she defends before a combined jury.

    France requirements for international students

France propose a world-class higher education institutions in an international environment. The application process for international students is exactly the same as it is for french students but it's indispensable to contact with a platform “Etude in France” and the regional department of “Campus France” (a public institution in charge of promoting higher education and managing the reception and international mobility of students).

Higher education is thus provided by two main types of institution: universities and "grandes écoles". «Grandes écoles» are the most reputable of the French education system. To win admission students get in by competitive examination, the institutions are relatively small, and classes in them small too. French universities are open to all “bacheliers”, or a student whom has passed their baccalaureate, and it's also easier to apply for the university program.

It is necessary to point out that the European local or an international student have to complete the application process in its entirety,  as well as submit all documentation at the time of submission so the procces suit to the ground for the students all over the world. Students are eligible for grants and other financial assistance from the governement to support study in France.

Applicants must be graduate engineers or equivalent 5/6 years degree after thebaccalaureate, including Master of Science or equivalent. The titulars of a Bachelor of Science can apply, preferably if they can prove at least three years of professionnel experience. The applicants are then selected on personal records by an admission board. Additionnal information may be obtained through an interview.English proficiencyAdequate command of spoken and written English is required for admission.Language qualification is requested TOEFL: 550 (paper-based)Except if applicant´s first language is English or total instruction of Bachelor degree has been provided in English.
